The Georgia Urban Agriculture Council (UAC) is a nonprofit partnership created for the purpose of building a greater public awareness of urban agriculture and its environmental importance in supporting Georgia’s natural systems.
UAC represents one of the largest and most successful industries in Georgia, with more than $8 billion in sales, 7,000 companies and more than 80,000 employees. We advocate for the economic and environmental benefits of urban agriculture AND the proper use of water to achieve those benefits. Urban agriculture includes retail garden centers, floriculturists, turf grass and sod growers, the nursery and horticulture industry, landscape architects, landscape installation and maintenance businesses, irrigation contractors, green wholesalers, florists, golf courses and their related businesses. We also work closely with the Georgia Center for Urban Agriculture at the University of Georgia.
What is Urban Agriculture?
Urban Agriculture is the creation, growth, introduction and management of constructed landscapes designed to support and enhance natural environmental systems and a sustainable quality of life through mitigation of land altering activity.
